What your page needs before it goes live
The six things a page needs, what stays off the page when one is missing, and how to publish or take it down.
The minimum
A page can go live with less than this, but this is the point where a stranger can find you, see what you make, and order. Get these six in first, then polish.
- A name, or a logo. The name goes in the top bar and the browser tab. A logo is optional; a name set in plain type looks fine.
- Five items with prices. The five things people order most. For a variable-price item, enter the starting amount and explain “from” in its description.
- Five photos. One per item is the goal. Phone photos are fine; see Photos that work.
- Hours. Each day, or “closed”. If you open by appointment or at markets, say that in the hours note.
- An address. The street address of the counter, or the cross streets if you are a pop-up. It appears in the Visit section of the page.
- One order button. Pointed at whatever you use today: Instagram, phone, email, a form, Square or Toast. See Where the order button can point.
How publishing works
Your page starts off. Open Storefront in your dashboard, choose its page address in the Page tab, and use the built-in preview while it is private. Turn Website live on when it is ready. It then answers at sweetspot.la/site/your-shop for anyone, signed in or not. On Plus it also answers at your own domain once it is connected.
Page details, menu items and the order button save directly and appear on a live page when it refreshes. Design drafts work differently: templates and Spot design suggestions stay in preview until you press Publish in the Design tab. That separation lets you try a new look without replacing the design visitors currently see.
Before you share the link
- Open the page on your phone, not just your laptop.
- Tap the order button and make sure it lands where you expect.
- Read each price out loud. A missing zero costs more than a typo.
- Check that today’s hours are right; that is the line people read first.
Taking it down
Open the same Storefront panel, go to the Page tab, and turn Website live off. The address stops showing your page. Your items, photos, hours and settings stay in your account, so putting it back up is one switch and nothing you wrote is lost. Use this for a long closure or a move; for a day off, change the hours instead.
Deleting your account is the only thing that deletes the page for good. How that works is under Support.
