Where the order button can point
Instagram, phone, email, a form, Square or Toast. How to change it, or use ordering on your page.
What it can point to
Your page has one order button. It points at whatever you already use to take orders, so nothing about how you work has to change on the day you publish.
- Instagram DM. Paste your profile link, instagram.com/yourshop. On a phone the button opens the Instagram app; on a laptop it opens your profile.
- Phone. Enter the number. The button reads “Call” and dials on a phone. Good if you take orders by text too; say so in the hours note.
- Email. Enter the address. The button opens the visitor’s mail app with your address filled in.
- A form. A Google Forms, Typeform or Jotform link. Best for custom cakes, where you need the date, the size and a photo of what they have in mind.
- Square. Your Square Online ordering link, the one ending in square.site.
- Toast. Your Toast online ordering link, the one starting order.toasttab.com.
Any other https link works the same way, for instance a Google Business ordering page.
Which one to pick
The one you answer fastest. A DM you read once a day loses to a phone you pick up. If most of your orders come from Instagram already, point it there and keep going.
Changing it
Open Storefront in your dashboard, find Order button, paste the new link or number and choose the label. Or ask the page: “Point the order button at my Square link”. Save it, refresh the live page, then open the page on your phone and tap the button. The most common mistake is a link that opens the wrong account.
Ordering on your page
Plus and Pro can use Sweetspot ordering instead of an outside link. Visitors add items and options on your page, then place a pickup order. Card checkout appears when card payments and payouts are enabled for your shop; otherwise checkout records the order as pay at pickup. You can keep the button pointing at Instagram or Square instead if you prefer; nothing switches on its own.
What it costs
- Free — the button points to what you use today. No Sweetspot fee, because no order passes through Sweetspot.
- Plus — 3% per order taken on the page.
- Pro — 0% per order.
- Card processing passes through at Stripe’s rate when a card is used. Sweetspot does not add a second card-processing markup.
On a $30 order the Sweetspot fee is $0.90 on Plus and $0 on Pro, before Stripe’s card-processing charge. Prices are what the shop charges, tax included. Shops are responsible for collecting, reporting and remitting any tax they owe. Sweetspot never adds a buyer fee. Founding shops pay 0% Sweetspot fees during their Founding year; see Plans, founding shops, and cancelling.
